London is a fascinating city, but where does its charm come from? Certainly not famous for food despite having many exotic restaurants, nor for the climate so what? The real charm of London probably lies in a clever mix of things: it is a city that tries to mediate between millenary traditions (such as the monarchy) with the modernity of economies. One of the most beautiful and evocative areas to visit absolutely is Westminster where the most famous places in London are concentrated: Westminster Abbey, the House of Parliament with Big Ben. At number 10 Downing Street is the Prime Minister's residence. The same road allows you to reach St. James's park which leads to Buckingham Palace. Buckingham Palace is the city palace of the English royal family, where the famous Changing of the Guard takes place every day at 11.30 am from May to June, and then there are the numerous and fascinating squares and the lush natural parks that London holds. Trafalgar Square along with Piccadilly Circus are Londoners' favorite spots. Thanks to its charm, at the end of the Millenium bridge, the Cathedral of Saint Paul has been chosen to host the most significant events in the city. Not to be missed is the London Eye, the largest Ferris wheel in the world, which takes your breath away offering a splendid view of the English capital. And then there are the museums: how not to visit the renowned British Museum, the oldest museum in the world, comparable in beauty and grandeur to the Louvre? Or the Tate Modern which contains over a hundred years of art from early 1900s modernism to the masterpieces of art created today. The recent Brexit is scary, but at least for now it does not block the city, which continues to grow and fascinate us.
