Questo incredibile spettacolo della natura nasce dal fiume Iguazù, lungo il quale, per circa tre km, si formano 275 cascate di portata ed altezza diversa, culminanti nella poderosa, e visitatissima, 'Gargantua del Diablo' (Gola del Diavolo), alta 90 metri. Le cascate fanno parte del Parco nazionale dell'Iguazù, una foresta pluviale protetta che ospita una miriade di rare specie animali e vegetali e offre un'incantevole vista del paesaggio circostante. Queste cascate, fra le più «rumorose» al mondo, sono condivise fra il Parco argentino e il Parco brasiliano. Nel 1984 sono state proclamate Patrimonio Mondiale dell’Umanità, nel 2012 sono state elette tra le nuove Sette Meraviglie del Mondo Naturali.
